This is the anti-oppressive anatomy course you wish had been a part of your academic program. (And maybe even high school!) The Bodies and Anatomy Intensive is an interactive professional training designed to offer an anti-ableist, pleasure-centered reframe of the human body and mind. This course is for professionals who want to build an expansive anti-ableist understanding of internal and external pleasure organs; how these organs can behave, collaborate, and sometimes clash; and strategies for incorporating this reframe into client interactions.
The Bodies and Anatomy Intensive will help attendees identify and divest from harmful constructs and expectations commonly imposed on our bodies and minds, and what sexuality professionals can do to help break this cycle.
By the end of this course, attendees will be able to:
Recall the gestational development process for genitals and reproductive organs
Name at least three pleasure organs using expansive language
Define ableism and how it impacts our understanding of bodies and pleasure
Identify at least three examples of gender constructs that are imposed on bodies
Recognize at least three non-normative ways that people relate to and enjoy their bodies for pleasure
This course meets the requirements of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and is approved for 5 CE credits. These CE credits may be applied toward AASECT certification and renewal of certification. Completion of this program does not ensure or guarantee AASECT certification.
