This course is open to all sexuality professionals. It is required for those completing the EDST Sex Therapy Certification.

Women disproportionately seek sexual and mental health treatment, yet many of the tools and frameworks used in sex therapy were developed through the lens of patriarchy. Working with Women, Femininity, & Feminine Social Scripts helps attendees navigate how to work with female and femme clients without unwittingly reinforcing latent gender normativity.

Attendees will explore the social and sexual scripts surrounding femininity and how they can impact - and sometimes interfere with - sexual pleasure, safety, and identity. They also will practice how to be present with clients who hold firm beliefs about “womanhood” while managing internal reactions and triggers that arise during the therapeutic process.

This course meets the requirements of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and is approved for 2 CE credits. These CE credits may be applied toward AASECT certification and renewal of certification. Completion of this program does not ensure or guarantee AASECT certification. D. Topics related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity: issues and themes impacting lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, asexual people; heterosexuality; gender identity and expression

This course covers the following AASECT Sex Therapy Training skills areas:

C. Theory and methods of approach to intervention in relationship systems experiencing sex and intimacy problems. (Need 16 hours couples-specific training)
