This course is open to all sexuality professionals. It is required for those completing the EDST Sex Therapy Certification.

This workshop grounds sex therapists in disability history and how ableism — cultural and clinical — shapes the therapy room. Attendees will trace the shift from medical to social/cultural models of disability, then explore how chronic illness, acquired disability, and medical trauma affect trust, body image, and intimacy in relationships.

The second half of this workshop turns inward, helping attendees spot and interrupt ableist assumptions in practice, leaving them with tools for a more affirming, disability-informed practice.

This course meets the requirements of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and is approved for 2 CE credits. These CE credits may be applied toward AASECT certification and renewal of certification. Completion of this program does not ensure or guarantee AASECT certification.
